Here at Old Towne Nursery we have partnered with Anna Smith for the last several years. She is a very accomplished landscape designer. You can have a look at our picture gallery of “before & after photos” of various homes that we have collaborated on. Also included, are examples of some of her finished, to scale drawings/designs. She has received many glowing letters of recommendation from her clients!
The value of a design is that it saves both time and money. We help many folks that have had to re-spend labor and money to fix or redo a landscape project. Just like building a house or going to the moon, they all take plans so that every aspect is coordinated and the desired goal is reached – on time and in budget. Even though you have a comprehensive plan for the entire yard certainly doesn’t mean that you have to plant it all right away.
The designs are usually broken into areas or sections that mean you can implement the design in phases over time. And that means that no matter how much time transpires between planting each phase it will still all be coordinated and make sense when it is all finished or even partially finished.
The other value to having a plan and/or consulting with an expert is that you might have certain wishes, desires, preferences and requirements:
Those wishes are then captured and retained during the plant selection and design. So, even if a phase is planted years later but follows the design then your preferences will still be reflected in the finished landscape.
With one of Anna’s designs you also receive a ‘how to take care of my plants’ book. It has pictures of each plant, names for all the plants and with the design you are able to track each one down. It tells you when and how much to prune, fertilize, mulch, dead head and when to apply your weed preventers.
You get a price estimate which lists all the names of the plants and enables you to just email to the nursery whichever phase of the design you are working on and we will order and gather your plants – just like sending someone off to the grocery store with your list to get all those funny ingredients needed at Thanksgiving – the only difference is we’re happy to do it. I hate being the one tasked to find the dried onions or condensed milk; I have no idea which aisle those are in. So, don’t worry if you don’t know where to find the Lagerstroemias that were in your design, we will track down the perfect Crape Myrtle for your landscape.
